The Las Alturas area is located east of the university and south of the university's golf course.  This area has lots of at least three quarters acre or more.  The homes are mostly southwestern in appearance.  Many property owners leave much of their landscape as natural desert.  Because of the availability of habitat, the area supports a good deal of native wildlife.
